Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing to lead a unit within the Division of Nursing. You will support the Director of Nursing, supervise professional and support staff, ensure holistic, evidence-based care, and coordinate patient transitions across the care continuum.

The role requires regulatory knowledge, quality and safety focus, budget involvement, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.
• Master's degree in Nursing or a health-related field is preferred.
• DC RN licensure or compact state licensure is required.
• Leadership/management experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops unit/department goals, policies and procedures in line with standards.
• Collaborates across disciplines and departments to ensure efficient, quality care.
• Sets performance expectations and conducts staff evaluations.
• Documents annual performance reviews and supports professional growth.
• Maintains effective staffing and budgeting for the unit/department.
• Leads quality and safety initiatives and patient safety rounds.
