Job summary

MedStar Health in the Washington, DC area is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing to join the division of nursing leadership. You will oversee unit-based nursing and support staff, ensuring holistic, evidence-based, safe and cost-effective care while collaborating with the Director of Nursing to drive quality and patient outcomes.

You will mentor staff, participate in performance reviews, manage staffing and budgets, and lead quality and safety initiatives across shifts in a 24/7 setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.
• Master's degree in Nursing or a health-related field is preferred.
• RN licensure in the District of Columbia is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop unit/department goals with the Director of Nursing and ensure compliance with policies.
• Form effective relationships across disciplines to ensure efficient, high-quality patient care.
• Conduct annual performance reviews for unit staff and provide ongoing feedback.
• Maintain staffing and budget oversight for the unit/department.
• Promote patient safety initiatives and lead quality improvement efforts.
• Assume administrative responsibilities in the Director's absence and coordinate operations.
