Job summary

ACCEL Schools seeks an Intervention Specialist for CHATA in Columbus, OH to support educational and behavioral goals for students with IEPs. The role collaborates with teachers, conducts assessments, and develops behavior plans to improve learning outcomes.

You will facilitate IEP meetings, monitor progress, and coordinate with families, while applying research-based strategies and culturally responsive instruction.

Qualifications

• Current state license or teaching credential
• Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards
• Experience in full inclusion or co-teaching in Resource Room
• Growth-focused coaching with observations, debriefs and progress monitoring
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook
• Excellent organization and time management
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to pass FBI/BCI background checks
• Experience in a multi-cultural setting preferred

Responsibilities

• Work cooperatively with classroom teachers, interpreting abilities and disabilities, assisting in intervention strategies and modifying general education curricula as necessary
• Conduct diagnostic assessments for instruction
• Conduct functional behavior assessments
• Write and implement behavior improvement plans
• Facilitate IEP meetings and write IEP goals and objectives
• Relentlessly work to meet goals related to student achievement, culture and state standards
• Utilize research-based best practices in daily planning and instruction
• Integrate culturally responsive teaching into daily lessons and interactions
• Serve as advisor for a designated set of students
• Communicate regularly with families about academic and social-emotional growth
• Participate in planning and implementation of non-instructional activities such as social events and field trips
• Perform other duties as assigned
