Job summary

ACCEL Schools is seeking an Intervention Specialist at North Columbus Preparatory Academy in Columbus, Ohio. The role emphasizes supporting students with IEP goals and employing inclusive practices in a K-8 setting, aligning with our college-prep, project-based approach.

You will collaborate with teachers, plan and monitor behavior and learning interventions, and engage families to support student growth in academics and social-emotional wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Current state license is required.
• Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards.
• Experience in full room inclusion or Co-Teaching in a Resource Room.
• Growth-focused coaching with frequent observations, debriefs and progress planning.
• High-quality written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Ability to pass FBI/BCI background checks.
• Experience in multi-cultural settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with classroom teachers to interpret abilities and disabilities and adjust interventions as needed.
• Conduct diagnostic assessments for instruction.
• Conduct functional behavior assessments and develop behavior improvement plans.
• Facilitate IEP meetings and write goals and objectives.
• Communicate regularly with families about academic and social-emotional growth.
• Plan and implement non-instructional activities such as social events and field trips.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
