Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in Laurel, MD invites technical students to join an internship in APL's Multi-Domain System Concepts Group. You will conduct simulation and analysis to identify defensive system gaps and develop new concepts to enhance U.S.

capabilities. You will apply math, engineering, and physics to models of sensors, battle management and communications, and kinetic/non-kinetic defenses, mentored by full-time staff on a project.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in EE, Engineering Physics, Physics, or Mathematics with GPA >= 3.0.
  • Strong programming and analytical skills in math, engineering, and physics.
  • Ability to obtain Interim Secret clearance by start date; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to development and assessment of Missile Defense systems.
  • Model, analyze, and assess fielded systems; propose improvements.
  • Conduct parametric analyses using high performance computing.
  • Develop presentations communicating technical recommendations to leadership.
