Job summary

The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks students pursuing a Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or Computer Science to join the Engagement Optimization Group. Interns will conduct modeling, simulation, and analysis to identify gaps and develop concepts to enhance US air and missile defense capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or graduate degree with GPA ≥ 3.0/4.0.
  • Able to communicate complex technical concepts verbally and in writing.
  • Experience programming in MATLAB, Python, C++, or another high‑level language.
  • Must be able to obtain Interim Secret clearance by start date and ultimately Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to development and assessment of Missile Defense systems.
  • Model, analyze, and assess fielded systems; propose and develop innovative concepts and algorithms.
  • Collaborate in a team environment focused on continual improvement and high‑quality products.
