Job summary

H.F. Lenz Company is seeking Mechanical/HVAC Engineering Interns for its 2027 Summer Internship Program in Lancaster, PA. Interns will gain hands-on experience in building systems design, Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM360 while contributing to real projects.

You will work with multi-disciplinary teams, participate in design tasks, and travel to project sites for surveys. This paid internship emphasizes professional development and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited Mechanical or Architectural Engineering program.
• Knowledge of 2D/3D modeling using AutoCAD and Revit.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Interest in building systems design and construction.
• Prior internship experience is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Support mechanical system design tasks.
• Learn HVAC, plumbing and fire protection design principles.
• Function as part of the design team and apply engineering concepts.
• Become proficient with Autodesk Revit.
• Perform basic engineering calculations.
• Assist in engineering studies and surveys.

We are seeking Mechanical/HVAC Engineering Interns to work out of our office in Lancaster, PA. Our summer internship program at HFL cultivates future engineering professionals, looking to gain hands-one, real-world experience to enhance their education and professional skills. Requirements/Responsibilities

What You’ll Get to Do:

• Support a variety of engineering tasks related to mechanical system design.
• Learn basic principles of mechanical system design, focused in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems.

• Perform basic engineering calculations.
• Assist in engineering related studies and surveys.

• Travel to project sites and assist with existing condition surveys.

What You’ll Need:

• Enrolled in an accredited Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering program.
• Knowledge of 2D and 3D modeling, including AutoCAD and Revit.
• Proficiency with basic computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Academic coursework that is relevant to building systems (HVAC) is preferred.
• Self-motivated with strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
• A strong interest and desire to learn building systems design and construction.
• Prior internship experience is preferred, but not required.
