Job summary

H.F. Lenz Company, a nationally recognized consulting engineering firm, seeks Mechanical/HVAC Engineering Interns for the 2027 Summer Internship in Pittsburgh, PA.

Gain hands-on experience across HVAC, plumbing and fire protection while collaborating on real projects with senior staff. Enrollments in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering programs are preferred; familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit and BIM360 helps you contribute from day one.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering program.
• Knowledge of 2D and 3D modeling, including AutoCAD and Revit.
• Proficiency with basic software (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• HVAC/building systems coursework preferred.
• Self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication.
• Interest in learning building systems design and construction.
• Prior internship experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Support mechanical system design tasks across HVAC, plumbing and fire protection.
• Learn basic principles of mechanical design and participate as part of the design team.
• Utilize engineering design concepts and contribute to project documentation.
• Become proficient with Autodesk Revit and related tools.
• Perform basic engineering calculations and surveys as needed.
• Coordinate designs with multi-disciplinary project teams.
• Assist with project site visits, existing condition surveys, and data collection.

We are seeking Mechanical/HVAC Engineering Interns to work out of our office in Pittsburgh, PA. Our summer internship program at HFL cultivates future engineering professionals, looking to gain hands-one, real-world experience to enhance their education and professional skills. It's an opportunity for students to get to know us and for us to learn about them.

• A strong interest and desire to learn building systems design and construction.
• Prior internship experience is preferred, but not required.
