H.F. Lenz Company in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking Mechanical/HVAC Engineering Interns for its 2027 Summer Internship Program. Join multidisciplinary teams to gain hands-on experience in real-world HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems design, using Revit, AutoCAD, BIM360 and related tools.

This internship emphasizes professional development, collaboration and client-facing project exposure. You will support design tasks, learn basic principles of mechanical systems, work with a design team,

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited Mechanical or Architectural Engineering program.
• Knowledge of 2D and 3D modeling, including AutoCAD and Revit.
• Proficiency with basic computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Academic coursework relevant to building systems (HVAC) is preferred.
• Self-motivated with strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• A strong interest and desire to learn building systems design and construction.
• Prior internship experience is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of engineering tasks related to mechanical system design.
• Learn basic principles of mechanical system design, focused in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems.
• Function as part of the design team and utilize engineering design concepts.
• Become an expert with Autodesk Revit.
• Perform basic engineering calculations.
• Assist in engineering related studies and surveys.
• Coordinate designs with multiple-disciplinary project teams.
• Travel to project sites and assist with existing condition surveys.

We are seeking Mechanical/HVAC Engineering Interns to work out of our office in Pittsburgh, PA. Our summer internship program at HFL cultivates future engineering professionals, looking to gain hands-one, real-world experience to enhance their education and professional skills.
