Job summary

Office of Attorney General/Division of Criminal Investigation in Pierre offers a Summer Intern position for students enrolled in college, university, or technical institute. *APPLICANT MUST BE A CURRENT PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 6 CREDIT HOURS) IN UPCOMING SEMESTER OR IN THE IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING SEMESTER.

Position Description:
The successful applicant will be organized, detail oriented, and have good oral and written communication skills. This position works closely with the current Sex Offender Compliance Analyst daily to ensure the needs of this program are met. The duties of this position include assisting Sex Offender Registry Staff with necessary section duties, receiving and sending daily mail, 2nd party registration verifications, assisting with maintaining the registration when needed, and other projects and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.

All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.

Successful applicant(s) will be required to undergo a background investigation. An arrest/conviction record will not necessarily bar employment. Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of a drug screening.
