Job summary

Office of Attorney General/Division of Criminal Investigation in Pierre, South Dakota seeks an Intern - DCI IT Intern. The role supports IT staff with hardware/software tasks, inventory management, and system upgrades. Applicants must be enrolled as a part-time or full-time student and have completed at least one year of study.

Travel to field offices may be required. Minimum salary starts at $18.98 per hour. Preference may be given to local students and those from SD institutions.

Qualifications

• Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply.
• By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.
• All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for existing OAG hardware and software.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and install computers, computer peripherals, and applications.
• Assist in maintaining inventory and surplus.
• Assist in implementing new or upgraded systems, software and hardware, depending on current projects assigned to the IT staff.
• Possibility of travel to field offices as needed.

*APPLICANT MUST BE A CURRENT PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 6 CREDIT HOURS) IN UPCOMING SEMESTER OR IN THE IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING SEMESTER.*

Position Description: The successful applicant will provide technical support for existing OAG hardware and software. Applicant will work with IT staff to assist in maintaining, troubleshooting, and installing computers, computer peripherals, applications. They will also assist in helping maintain inventory and surplus. Applicant may be involved in implementation of new or upgraded systems, software and hardware, depending on the current projects assigned to the IT Staff. They will have the opportunity work with many different areas of technology throughout this internship. Possible travel may be required as needed to provide services to field offices.
