Job summary

Bennett & Pless, Inc. in Orlando and Sarasota invites talented civil engineering students to join its summer internship program. You’ll work on designing elements within structural systems for diverse projects and coordinate with structural engineers and RevIt/AutoCAD designers to deliver quality deliverables.

The role provides hands-on experience with AutoCAD and Revit, exposure to multiple jurisdictions, and opportunities to contribute to real project outcomes this summer.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• Pursuit of a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is a plus.
• AutoCAD experience required; Revit experience is a plus.
• Experience with RAM, RISA, EnerCalc, Adapt or similar software is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design structural elements for various project types.
• Coordinate with engineers and Revit/AutoCAD designers to meet client expectations.
• Prepare construction drawings and calculations as directed by the project engineer; review shop drawings and RFIs.

Job description

Bennett & Pless is seeking bright and motivated engineering students for our summer internship program in our Orlando and Sarasota offices.

You’d Be Responsible For

• Designing specific elements with in overall structural systems for a variety of project types, including manufacturing, distribution, data center, commercial, self-storage, churches, historical, public sector, retail, adaptive reuse, and renovations, and existing facility analysis.
• Interacting and coordinating with structural engineers and Revit/Cad Designers to produce deliverables are compliant with client expectations and Bennett & Pless quality levels.
• Preparing construction drawings in Revit/AutoCAD format, preparing calculations as directed by the project structural engineer, reviewing shop drawings and submittals, performing site reviews with the project structural engineer, and preparing RFI responses as directed by the project structural engineer.

Other Qualifications

• Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• Pursuit of a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is a plus.
• Ability to learn applicable codes in project-specific jurisdictions and apply to the project.
• Experience in Revit is a plus. Experience in AutoCAD is required.
• Experience with industry standard software, including but not limited to Microsoft products, Bentley (RAM) products, RISA, EnerCalc, Adapt, etc.
