Job summary

Bennett & Pless Inc., located in Potomac Falls, VA, is seeking bright and motivated engineering students for a summer internship in our Loudoun office. You would support the design of structural elements for diverse project types and coordinate with engineers and designers to ensure deliverables meet client expectations.

The role requires pursuing a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering with a Master’s a plus, and familiarity with Revit/AutoCAD; knowledge of RAM, RISA, EnerCalc, and Adapt is

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• Pursuit of a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is a plus.
• Ability to learn applicable codes in project-specific jurisdictions and apply to the project.
• Experience in Revit is a plus. Experience in AutoCAD is required.
• Experience with industry standard software, including Microsoft products, Bentley RAM, RISA, EnerCalc, Adapt, etc.

Responsibilities

• Designing specific elements within overall structural systems for various project types.
• Interacting with structural engineers and Revit/Cad Designers to produce deliverables meeting client expectations and Bennett & Pless quality levels.
• Preparing construction drawings in Revit/AutoCAD, preparing calculations as directed, reviewing shop drawings and submittals, performing site reviews, and preparing RFI responses.

Bennett & Pless is seeking bright and motivated engineering students for our summer internship program in our Loudoun office.

You’d be responsible for:

• Designing specific elements with in overall structural systems for a variety of project types, including manufacturing, distribution, data center, commercial, self-storage, churches, historical, public sector, retail, adaptive reuse, and renovations, and existing facility analysis.
• Interacting and coordinating with structural engineers and Revit/Cad Designers to produce deliverables are compliant with client expectations and Bennett & Pless quality levels.
• Preparing construction drawings in Revit/AutoCAD format, preparing calculations as directed by the project structural engineer, reviewing shop drawings and submittals, performing site reviews with the project structural engineer, and preparing RFI responses as directed by the project structural engineer.
