Position: Interim Director of FP&A / Finance

Location: Remote (Preference for candidates based in Texas)

Duration: 3-Month Contract with Possible Extension or Full-Time Conversion

Compensation: Commensurate with Experience

Overview:

Our client, a multi-facility hospital system, is seeking an experienced Interim Director of FP&A / Finance to support the finance function during a period of transition and operational optimization. This critical role will focus on budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance management. The ideal candidate brings deep healthcare industry experience, especially in hospital operations, and thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. This position is fully remote, with a preference for candidates located in Texas.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the hospital system’s FP&A function, including development of operating and capital budgets, forecasts, and long-range plans.
• Provide financial guidance to senior leadership by analyzing trends, identifying risks, and offering data-driven recommendations.
• Design, build, and refine financial models to support scenario planning, cost control, and strategic initiatives.
• Support monthly and quarterly financial reviews, including variance analysis, executive reporting, and board presentations.
• Partner with Accounting, Operations, and Clinical Leadership to improve margin visibility and resource allocation.
• Develop and enhance dashboards and KPI reporting across departments and facilities.
• Assist in revenue cycle analysis and payer performance reporting.
• Contribute to system-level cost containment strategies and financial efficiency initiatives.
• Lead and mentor finance team members in best practices and analytical rigor.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required; MBA or CPA preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive finance experience, including 5+ years in healthcare or hospital systems.
• Proven leadership experience in FP&A or finance leadership roles in a healthcare environment.
• Strong modeling skills in Excel and experience with financial systems (Strata, Epic, or similar tools preferred).
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with clinical and executive leadership.
• Comfortable working remotely with distributed teams; Texas-based candidates preferred.
