We're seeking an experienced Director of Finance to lead financial operations for our rapidly growing multi-location wellness business. This dual role combines strategic financial leadership with hands-on controller responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be a US citizen with multi-location retail/service experience, preferably in wellness, fitness, e-commerce or hospitality, and proven ability to build finance operations in a remote environment.

This is a full-time, remote based role.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Lead company-wide budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning processes
• Develop and maintain departmental budgets, working closely with department heads to establish realistic targets and monitor performance
• Provide financial analysis and modeling to support expansion into new markets and strategic decision-making
• Develop company-wide KPIs and financial metrics, working with Finance Manager on monthly reporting execution
• Cash flow management and working capital optimization across all locations
• Support investor relations and board reporting as needed

Controller Functions

• Oversee dual-entity accounting operations for US and Canadian entities
• Direct preparation of comprehensive monthly financial reporting packages including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow statements, and variance analysis for each location and consolidated operations
• Manage multi-location, multi-jurisdiction chart of accounts and ensure consistent practices
• Coordinate audits and tax preparation across US and Canadian operations
• Oversee Shopify-QuickBooks integration and e-commerce financial reporting

Compliance & Systems

• Ensure sales tax and income tax compliance across US and Canadian jurisdictions
• Manage payroll systems for 200+ staff across multiple locations using ADP
• Implement and optimize financial systems including but not limited to; QuickBooks, Shopify, and Connecteam
• Develop internal controls and policies for multi-jurisdiction operations
• Support Visa financial documentation and compliance requirements
• Manage and develop a scaling finance team; handling complex multi-entity, multi-jurisdiction operations
• Build scalable financial processes and systems that support rapid geographic expansion
• Oversee team managing payroll, tax filings, expense reconciliation, and breeder payments across all locations
• Scale team as company grows into new markets and jurisdictions
• Train location managers on financial reporting and compliance requirements
• Foster strong finance team culture and collaboration in a remote work environment

Required Qualifications:

Experience & Education

• Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance; CPA required
• 7+ years finance/accounting experience, 3+ years at controller/director level
• US citizen or authorized to work in the US

Technical Skills

• Expert US GAAP knowledge
• Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks Enterprise, NetSuite)
• Advanced Excel skills and financial modeling
• POS systems and service business revenue recognition experience

Core Competencies

• Ability to work independently in remote, fast-paced environment
• Experience presenting financial information to non-finance stakeholders
• Excellent virtual collaboration and team management skills
