What you will accomplish as a Field Technician at TAPCO

The Intelligent Warning Systems Technician installs, troubleshoots, services, and maintains solar-powered and AC-powered safety systems. They have strong problem-solving skills in electrical, mechanical, wireless, and computer systems. The role involves working with contractors to install devices, train users, and perform maintenance on TAPCO products. The position requires travel up to 75% across the U.S. and reports to the IWS Service Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides training to contractors, end users, and distributors
  • Reviews sales orders and project plans prior to site visits
  • Provides feedback about discrepancies or issues to relevant departments
  • Collaborates with Sales or TSG for problem resolution
  • Requests quotes and manages ongoing contracts for parts, services, and upgrades
  • Monitors and follows up on service cases until resolution
  • Performs installation, maintenance, and repairs of electronic and communication systems
  • Troubleshoots and repairs equipment, diagnosing electronic failures
  • Assists in acquiring maintenance contracts and evaluating equipment conditions
  • Performs other related work as required

Required Experience and Skills

  • Ability to frequently drive to customer sites, including overnight travel
  • Willingness to travel outside Wisconsin up to 75%
  • Knowledge of electronic, electromechanical, and electrical power principles, including testing DC and AC circuits
  • Proficiency with PC and Windows OS, Microsoft Office, file management, and email
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work under high stress with minimal supervision
  • Focus on customer satisfaction through outstanding service

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in electronics or equivalent on-the-job experience
  • Two years of industry experience in field service and troubleshooting
