Scope

The Lead Infrastructure Technician installs, maintains, and troubleshoots cabling and fiber infrastructure, as well as installs and connects various network devices. They work directly with engineers, project managers, and customers to review work orders, project scope, and requirements. They should be knowledgeable of telecommunications standards and understand customer needs to provide recommendations. Clear and concise communication via email and phone with project managers and customers is essential. The candidate must demonstrate exceptional communication skills, attention to detail, and a high sense of urgency.

The Lead Cabling Technician must be able to travel and work out of town regularly.

Responsibilities

• Meeting with customers, reviewing project scope and tasks.
• Installing, terminating, testing, certifying, and labeling CAT5, CAT6, and fiber optic cables.
• Building out IDF/MDF including racks, cabinets, and ladder racking.
• Dressing cables and installing fiber channel trays.
• Drilling, cutting ceiling tiles, penetrating firewalls, and installing fire penetration solutions.
• Installing network devices such as wireless access points, digital signage, and security cameras.
• Leading installation crews and subcontractors.
• Troubleshooting and repairing copper and fiber connections.
• Installing conduit and raceway pathways.
• Documenting and reporting tasks daily to the project manager.
• Maintaining service quality by adhering to standards.
• Contributing to team efforts and accomplishing tasks.
• Leading by example, including attendance and dress code policies.
• Working effectively with internal and external customers.
• Communicating verbally via phone, email, and fax throughout the day.
• Driving for business purposes and maintaining a good driving record.

Requirements

• College or vocational trade degree preferred; high school diploma required.
• 3 years of cabling experience, with at least 1 year as project lead managing other techs.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Technical understanding of voice, data, and fiber optic systems.
• Ability to create detailed documentation.
• Experience with cabling and fiber testing/certification devices.
• Ability to read/interprete blueprints and provide detailed work directions.
• Customer service skills for interfacing with clients.
• Physical ability to climb ladders, crawl, kneel, reach overhead.
• Ability to differentiate colors for termination requirements.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions: Up to 75% travel, ability to read, write, communicate, move boxes up to 50 lbs, ascend/descend ladders, and perform physical tasks as described.
