Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation is seeking an Intelligent Transportation Systems Specialist to perform statewide installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of ITS, traffic signals, and roadway lighting systems. The role involves coordinating with districts, IT staff, and partners; occasional travel and heavy traffic work are required.

You will support emergency operations, analyze complex schematics, and provide technical guidance to regional teams.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general education.
• Experience: Regional Traffic Management System Analyst I: 2 years of experience in construction, electrical construction installation, traffic management, transportation engineering, systems analysis, design, computer programming or related experience.
• Experience: Regional Traffic Management System Analyst II: 4 years of experience in construction, electrical construction installation, traffic management, transportation engineering, systems analysis, design, computer programming or related experience.

Responsibilities

• Installs, troubleshoots, maintains, replaces and upgrades ITS hardware and software (DMS, CCTV, DSRC, RSE) statewide.
• Installs and maintains traffic signals, inter-connectivity, controllers, and related infrastructure.
• Maintains road illumination systems and associated electrical services and foundations.
• Coordinates with district offices for traffic control, supplies and assistance; liaises with cities, counties and other entities.
