Job summary

TAPCO is seeking a skilled ITS Technician to join our team responsible for the maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting of Intelligent Transportation Systems. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the efficiency, safety, and reliability of traffic management systems, including traffic signals, dynamic message signs, cameras, network equipment and other ITS infrastructure.

This position will work with contractors to install new devices, train users how to operate them,

Qualifications

• Associate degree in electronics or equivalent field with hands-on field service experience.
• Minimum two years in field service and troubleshooting.
• Strong knowledge of electronics, electromechanical and electrical power principles.
• PC literacy including Windows, Office, file transfers, and software installs.
• Experience configuring equipment: control boards, routers, switches on IP networks.
• Fiber optic network experience including testing, splicing, and termination.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools; ladders; bucket truck work outdoors.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record; ability to travel multi-day.
• Willingness to work after-hours to meet operational needs.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair electronic, computer, communication, network systems.
• Safely operate related tools and equipment and use related software.
• Provide technical phone support to customers and contractors.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment down to board level.
• Maintain accurate field reports and records.
• Communicate effectively with team, contractors, and customers.
• Manage software/firmware changes and install new hardware.
• Familiar with TAPCO products and software configurations.
• Occasional multi-day travel to customer sites outside WI.
