Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation is seeking a Traffic Systems Technician I/II to install, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain traffic systems, signals, and data collection devices. The role involves heavy traffic work and statewide travel, with on-site responsibilities at the San Antonio Transguide Office.

Responsibilities include assisting in hardware/software for ITS, timing adjustments, equipment maintenance, and collaboration with other entities.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equivalent
• Traffic Systems Technician I requires no prior experience
• Traffic Systems Technician II requires 1 year experience in construction/electronic troubleshooting/traffic systems or related fields

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, troubleshoot and maintain traffic systems, signals, communications, illumination and data collection devices/systems
• Assist in installing/troubleshooting hardware and software for traffic systems and ITS
• Assist in maintaining stock and equipment for scheduled projects
• Measure intersections and evaluate traffic patterns and timing; adjust signal timing
• Learn to identify site characteristics and troubleshoot issues
• Design and review traffic signal/illumination projects under supervision
• Assist in ensuring safety and compliance with plans and specs
• Maintain documentation and reports related to systems and repairs
