Job summary

Department of State Police in Virginia seeks an Intel Analyst Senior to support the Virginia Fusion Center. Based in North Chesterfield, this role focuses on researching and disseminating criminal intelligence with a behavioral threat context to prevent and respond to incidents.

The ideal candidate will analyze data, produce intelligence reports, and provide briefings to leadership while maintaining security clearances and strict adherence to policy.

About the Position:

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire an Intelligence Analyst Senior in our Intelligence Operations Directorate (IOD) Virginia Fusion Center (VFC) at our Administrative Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The job duties for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Researching, evaluating, and disseminating criminal intelligence information to support prevention and response efforts for incidents and events with a behavioral threat context.
  • Conducting database checks and compiling results to respond to requests for information in a timely, efficient manner.
  • Creating intelligence reports and products relating to criminal, terrorism and suspicious activity.
  • Providing results to supervision/management to assist in the modification of policies, procedures and resources in the Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management Team.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of research and analysis techniques.

Skills:

  • Intermediate skill in the use of personal computers and using Microsoft Office applications.

Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, summarize, interpret and communicate information and technical data orally and in writing.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking to diverse information sets and to produce logic-based analysis and recommendations on probable and potential trends and event outcomes.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and complete files, manage multiple priorities, and follow oral and written instructions in English.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of municipal, State, and federal personnel and representatives of other agencies and organizations.
  • Ability to work semi‑independently, establish priorities, and achieve high level results with limited direct supervision.
  • Ability to create and provide intelligence briefings for all levels of personnel.
  • Experience or training in psychology, government, business to include analytical experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain federal security clearance.
  • Requires three-year commitment to the Virginia Fusion Center and ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Requires Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) certified, which requires either United States citizenship or a lawful permanent resident of the United States and eligible for naturalization.
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Additional Considerations
  • Experience and working knowledge in the mental health industry in private or government sector preferred.
  • Public safety experience or other broad scope of governmental experience preferred.
