Job summary

UMass Memorial Health - Harrington Hospital, Inc. is seeking an Intake Specialist to support clinical operations.

You will be responsible for heavy telephone intake, patient registration, and scheduling, while collecting accurate client data including insurance information. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the role requires at least 2 years of office experience, strong customer service, and the ability to multitask under pressure in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 2 years of office experience.
• Typing 40 wpm and handling high volume telephones.
• Must be able to multitask and maintain a calm demeanor.
• Knowledge of business systems and office procedures is important.

Responsibilities

• Heavy telephone intake and patient registration.
• Booking appointments and collecting client data including insurance information.
• Typing correspondence and managing phone and foot traffic.
• Verify and obtain authorizations for services and insurance coverage.
• Handle billing and insurance inquiries and follow up on outstanding accounts.
• Assist in training of new personnel and support other sites as needed.
