Job summary

Ally Financial is hiring a data and analytics professional for the Insurance data and analytics team in Detroit. You will identify trends in complex data sets, collaborate with IT and stakeholders, and create scalable data collection and reporting solutions to drive informed business decisions.

You will develop data connections, extract data using SQL/Snowflake/Python, and build Power BI dashboards while maintaining governance and mentoring new team members.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of data and business analysis experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Information Science or similar background.
• Proficiency with Oracle SQL, Snowflake, Power BI.
• Working knowledge of Python and data governance concepts.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, MS Teams, and ServiceNow.

Responsibilities

• Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
• Work closely with management to prioritize business and information needs.
• Locate and define new process improvement opportunities.
• Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports.
• Develop and implement data collection systems and strategies that optimize efficiency and data quality.
• Provide mentoring to new members of the team.
• Work with internal team and IT to support testing and implementing data solutions.
• Interface with multiple IT teams, business groups, and data owners to ensure the data management standard is upheld across the organization.
• Support ad-hoc reporting, analysis, and presentations.
• Develop data connections and extractions using SQL, Snowflake, Python.
• Develop dashboards/analytics using Power BI.
• Maintain high standards of documentation and adherence to data governance.
