Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer with a strong background in analog and digital control systems to join project teams designing new power plants and upgrading existing facilities. You will help develop I&C deliverables, including P&IDs, I/O lists, and control narratives, with travel for design reviews as needed.

The role emphasizes collaboration, mentoring, and hands-on training in process control design, with a target Summer 2027 start.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with strong background in analog and digital control systems.
• Apply I&C engineering principles to project design deliverables and technical problem solving.
• Proficiency with MS Excel and Access (MS Office).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Exceptional work habits and resourceful attitude.

Responsibilities

• Design and support new power plant projects and modifications; improve plant controls.
• Prepare specifications for procurement of I&C equipment and installation services.
• Develop P&IDs, I/O lists, control panel designs, cause & effect matrices, network architecture, cable schedules, and location plans.
• Participate in Process Hazard Analysis and Design Reviews.
• Travel to client/vendor offices and plant sites for reviews and field verification.
• Mentor peers through training sessions and Communities of Practice.
