Job Description Summary

This position provides instruction in Social & Human Services and advising for students pursuing the Associate of Applied Science in Social and Human Services, Mental Health Studies Certificate, and Addiction and Recovery Certificate.

Duties

1. Maintains mastery of subject matter.

2. Develops and/or teaches courses for which the appropriate credential is held.

3. Teaches in various formats, mostly face-to-face, various locations (including Western Correctional Center for Women) and A-B Tech Madison, and via various delivery methods.

5. Adheres to policies, procedures, expectations, and practices of the College, the department, and discipline.

6. Communicates clearly with students, other faculty, and staff.

7. Contributes to a safe and secure campus environment.

8. Enforces College policies and procedures

9. Assists with program reviews, program accreditation, and SACSCOC accreditation as appropriate.

10. Attends meetings and events and actively participate on committees and taskforces.

11. Attends the annual commencement ceremony.

12. Supports the College’s Mission, Vision, Values and RISE Statements.

13. Establishes or upholds learning outcomes that are relevant and meaningful.

14. Evaluates student progress in a fair, consistent, and timely manner.

15. Develops, prepares, and/or delivers all levels of curriculum courses.

16. Completes required professional development annually.

17. Participates in the Prison Education Program ( PEP ).

18. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements (Applicant must meet all of the minimum requirements)

1. Master’s Degree in Human Services, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Therapeutic Recreation, Mental Health, Addictions, Public Administration, Public Health.
2. Two years of full-time or equivalent teaching experience in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work ( MSW )
    2. Three years full-time or equivalent teaching experience in higher education.
    3. Five years of full-time or equivalent industry related experience.
    4. Experience teaching at a community college.
    5. Experience with Learning Management Systems.
    6. Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish, an East Slavic language, and/or American Sign Language.

Total Compensation

Your total compensation goes beyond this maximum salary. Your A-B Tech benefits represent nearly 30% of your total compensation.
The total compensation for this position includes an 26.1% employer contribution to a defined pension plan, contributions towards medical and dental policies and fully funded life insurance / accidental death & dismemberment policy.
