Job summary

The Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College in Asheville, NC is seeking an Administrative Assistant (Madison) to join our part-time regular team. You will welcome students, assist with applications, and help students navigate orientations and advising resources.

Anticipated Hours 1:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Anticipated Hours per Week up to 29 hours per week

Job Description Summary Serves as the welcoming first point of contact to current and prospective students and assists them in attaining their educational goals. Serves the public and creates goodwill through the community and the College.

Duties
  • Uses daily application report to consult with prospective students who have applied and assists them with completing the application process (orientations, financial aid, scholarships, student support resources), and schedules advising appointments.
  • Performs registration and processes tuition payment for continuing education students.
  • Administers placement testing for curriculum and continuing education students.
  • Maintains database for continuing education course offerings. Contacts students on waitlist and interest list as courses are scheduled.
  • Schedules facility for classes, civic groups, and organizations and enters information into our system.
  • Performs general administrative and receptionist services including greeting students and other visitors, answering telephones. Performs data entry and duplicating for instructors.
  • Contributes to the College Vision, Mission, Values, and RISE statement.
  • Supports workforce diversity in all its aspects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Associate degree.
  • One year of part-time or equivalent work experience performing administrative assistant duties.
  • One year of part-time or equivalent direct customer service experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of part-time or equivalent experience working in an educational setting.
  • Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish, an East Slavic language, and/or American Sign Language.
