Job summary

Howard Community College seeks a Learning Designer to design and develop multimodal courses, materials, and learning experiences. The role supports online and blended learning within the Workforce, Career, & Community Education division, collaborating with faculty and staff to create engaging curricula.

The position requires proactive consultation, project management, and strong communication skills. Some evenings and weekend availability may be needed; this is not a remote position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in instructional design/technology or education or online learning. (Master's degree preferred)
• Two years of experience providing professional development and instructional design and development. (preferred)
• Higher education experience (preferred)
• Familiarity with ADA/Section 508 compliance and accessible design

Responsibilities

• Consult and collaborate with faculty and staff to design, develop, and evaluate instructional courses and materials
• Manage individual and group projects
• Assess online courses using HCC's evaluation tools
• Train and mentor faculty and staff in technology and instructional design best practices
• Develop user guides and tutorials for online and offline use
• Assist with LMS administration and maintenance (WCCE subaccount)
• Provide timely support for users and adapt to changing needs
