Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Education Administration, Social Sciences or equivalent work experience.
  • 1-3 years of related professional experience working with data analysis, reporting, or administrative systems.
  • Knowledge of databases and querying (e.g., SQL).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling data.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
  • Proven performance with Microsoft Office 365 applications with specific knowledge of Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain, and document innovative and user-friendly reports, dashboards, and visualizations for operational and analysis needs of IR to inform strategic planning and policy development.
  • Cleanses, transforms, and validates data from a wide variety of sources.
  • Be a liaison with IT to develop new and innovative tools to keep IR on the cutting edge and operational efficiency
  • Maintains existing reporting workflows, offering improvements where necessary.
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across institutional systems.
  • Assist with preparation and dissemination of reports and presentations as needed.
  • Monitor Institutional Research's email account and disseminating data and other requests as appropriate in a timely manner.
  • Assist in maintaining the IR website and in educating colleagues on the uses of institutional research and data in general.
  • Represent the IR office and university by serving on various campus committees and through participation in external groups.
  • Monitor data quality and identify discrepancies or inconsistencies.
  • Support requests for data and information from campus stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy, security policies, and ethical standards.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Provost of Institutional Research (IR),the role will provide technical support to Office of InstitutionalResearch. The Institutional Research Technical Assistant supportsthe Office of Institutional Research by assisting with datacollection, analysis, reporting, and maintenance of institutionaldata systems. This role contributes to evidence-baseddecision-making by ensuring data accuracy, producing reports, andsupporting research initiatives related to student outcomes,institutional effectiveness, and compliance. This position willassist with the day-to-day operations of the office.

Job Responsibilities

Required Education and Experience

  • Experience supporting survey tools (e.g., Qualtrics,SurveyMonkey).
  • Understanding of higher education reporting requirements andmetrics (e.g., IPEDS).
  • Exposure to data governance and data management bestpractices.

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional office environment. Thisrole routinely uses standard office equipment such as personalcomputers, printers, etc.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee isoccasionally required to stand; reach with hands and arms; climbstairs; bend and stretch to file documents. The employee must workon a computer.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time positionon the Queens campus. Days and hours ofwork are Monday through Friday, 8:30a.m.to4:30 p.m.

Travel

Travel is primarily local and may include visits to the other NYcampusesor to local institutions for occasional meetings.
