Job Description:

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Institutional Research Analyst supports the Office of Institutional Research and Planning (IRP) in providing accurate,timely, and meaningful institutional data and analysis to supportCollege planning, decision-making, accreditation, compliance, andinstitutional effectiveness. This position reports to the Directorof Institutional Research and Planning.

This position requires four days per week in the office and allows one remote day per week, with the possibility of additional remote work after six months.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

1. Extract, clean, integrate, and analyze institutional data fromthe College's student information system, relational databases, andother data sources while developing reproducible analyticalworkflows and maintaining clear technical documentation.
2. Prepare, validate, and submit accurate and timely reports tofederal and state agencies, accreditation bodies, andotherexternal organizations, including IPEDS and MassachusettsDepartment of Higher Education reporting.
3. Provide timely, client-focused responses to ad hoc datarequests from college leadership, academic and administrativedepartments, committees, and other stakeholders
4. Conduct semester statistical analyses and reports on studentretention, enrollment, and graduation outcomes. (e.g.Fall/Spring/Summer Quick Facts, Annual Enrollment Quick Facts,Degrees/Certificates Conferred Summary).
5. Provide data and analytical support for accreditation, programreview, grant reporting, strategic planning, assessment, andinstitutional effectiveness initiatives.
6. Support institutional survey administration using SurveyMonkey.
7. Develop and maintain SQL queries, datasets, and reportingprocesses used for institutional research, planning, accreditation,and grants.
8. Maintain clear documentation of data sources, definitions,methodologies, queries, validation procedures, and recurringreporting processes.
9. Collaborate with departments across the College to clarifyinformation needs, identify appropriate data sources and measures,resolve data-quality issues, and promote consistent use ofinstitutional data.
10. Identify opportunities to improve the accuracy, consistency,efficiency, and reproducibility of data extraction, validation,analysis, and reporting processes.
11. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, withcoursework or experience in quantitative analysis, databases, ordata science (e.g., statistics, mathematics, computer science,economics, information systems, or related fields).
2. Three (3) years of professional experience involving dataanalysis, reporting, research, or related analytical work.
3. Proficiency in SQL, including the ability to independentlydevelop, troubleshoot, and validate queries involving relationaldata.
4. Strong Excel skills for data analysis, validation, andreporting.
5. Experience with business intelligence or data visualizationplatforms such as Tableau.
6. Demonstrated ability to validate and quality-check data,identify discrepancies or unusual results, investigate potentialcauses, and ensure accuracy before reporting or disseminatinginformation.
7. Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret data andsynthesize results into clear, accurate, and concise findings fornontechnical audiences.
8. Exceptional attention to detail and demonstrated commitment toaccuracy, consistency, and completeness when working withdata.
9. Ability to independently manage multiple requests and projectssimultaneously and establish priorities, regularly communicatestatus and meet required deadlines in a fast-pacedenvironment.
10. Highly developed verbal and written communication skills thatdemonstrate the ability to present and communicate complex analysesinto clear reports, visualizations, and presentations for a broadrange of technical and non-technical audiences.
11. Ability to exercise sound judgment, take ownership of assignedwork, and recognize when results require additional investigationor validation.
12. Knowledge of or ability to apply data privacy, confidentiality,and security requirements, including FERPA.
13. Ability to work as part of a team and develop productiveworking relationships with diverse groups of people.
14. Ability to independently scope ambiguous problems, learn newmethods of analysis and extend/modify existing analytical code andmethods.
15. Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Master's degree from an accredited college or university thatincludes coursework in research methods, statistics anddatabases.
2. Experience in institutional research, institutionaleffectiveness, or a related higher education environment.
3. Familiarity with higher education reporting requirements andpractices, including IPEDS, state reporting, accreditation, orprogram review.
4. Experience working with student information systems such asBanner, Jenzabar, or similar enterprise systems.
5. Experience with Transact-SQL (T-SQL), including developingcomplex queries, stored procedures, and functions.
6. Experience developing dashboards and data visualizations usingTableau.
7. Collaborative mindset and openness to feedback and continuouslearning

Additional Information:

COMPENSATION

Full-time, Non-Unit Professional Position. Annual Salary range of $75,000.00 - $85,000.00, dependent onqualifications. Includes participation in a comprehensive employeebenefits program and the option for membership in the MassachusettsState Employees' Retirement System.
