Job summary

Regency Heights Detroit is hiring a Cook to prepare nutritious meals for residents in accordance with prescribed menus and sanitation standards. The role requires following recipes, maintaining a clean kitchen, and coordinating with dietary staff to support resident health and satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year experience as a cook in an institutional food service setting preferred.
• Knowledge of safe food handling, sanitation, and infection control practices.
• ServSafe certification within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Supervises culinary center staff in the absence of the Chef and/or Certified Dietary Manager.
• Handles and stores all food according to facility procedures, safe handling guidelines, state and federal requirements.
• Follows standardized recipes.
• Prepares foods that correspond to the menu cycles developed by Registered Dietitians.
• Cooks or prepares meals in quantities that are served at proper temperatures and within appropriate timeframes.
• Maintains clean and safe workspaces and uses equipment properly and safely.
