Job summary

Regency at Westland in Westland, MI is seeking a full-time Cook to prepare high-quality meals for residents following prescribed menus and dietary guidelines. You will ensure safe food handling, maintain a clean kitchen, and collaborate with dietary staff to support resident health and satisfaction.

You will follow recipes, manage portions, and work with dietary staff to develop nutritionally balanced meals while maintaining proper temperatures and minimizing waste.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• One year experience as a cook in an institutional setting.
• Knowledge of safe food handling, sanitation, and infection control practices.
• ServSafe certified or certified within 90 days of employment.
• Meets all state and federal criminal background check requirements.

Responsibilities

• Supervises culinary center’s employees in the absence of the Chef or Certified Dietary Manager.
• Handles and stores all food according to facility procedures, safe handling guidelines, and regulations.
• Follow standardized recipes.
• Prepare foods according to menus cycles developed by Registered Dietitians.
• Cook and prepare meals in proper temperatures and timeframes.
• Use food supplies efficiently to prevent waste.
• Prepare supplies to accommodate resident choices and refusals.
• Supervise culinary staff on food storage, prep, tray assembly, and cleaning.
• Operate institutional food preparation equipment per directions and maintenance schedules.
• Inspect trays after meal service to monitor resident acceptance and report findings.
