Job summary

Laurels of Bedford in Battle Creek, MI is looking for a dedicated Cook to prepare nutritious meals for residents in line with prescribed menus, dietary restrictions, and sanitation standards. You will work closely with dietary staff to support resident health and satisfaction, while maintaining safety and cleanliness in the kitchen.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year experience as a cook in an institutional food service setting preferred.
• Knowledge of safe food handling, sanitation, and infection control practices.
• ServSafe certified or certified within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Supervises culinary center staff in the absence of the Chef and/or Certified Dietary Manager.
• Handles and stores all food according to facility procedures, safe handling guidelines, and state/federal requirements.
• Follows standardized recipes and prepares foods according to menu cycles developed by Registered Dietitians.
• Cooks meals in quantities that meet proper temperatures and timeframes and minimizes waste.
