Job summary

Think Together in Duarte, CA is seeking a Part-Time Substitute Program Leader to work at various sites, providing homework assistance, academic enrichment, and physical activity for students in the program. You will create an engaging environment, support positive behavior, and help ensure student safety and orderly sites while following lesson plans and participating in staff development.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young children and ability to motivate.
• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• College credits or passing an instructional aide test may be required in some districts.
• Ability to speak and write standard English for a public school setting.
• Available at least 5 days a week (Mon-Fri).
• Program times roughly 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM; times may vary.

Responsibilities

• Provide homework assistance, academic enrichment and physical activity using the program’s materials.
• Create an engaging environment that fosters belonging.
• Support students in positive behavior choices and disciplinary measures when needed.
• Engage children by following and assisting in lesson plans.
• Ensure student safety by set up, break down and site maintenance.
• Promote positive interactions between volunteers and students per child safety guidelines.
• Take attendance and review sign-in/sign-outs for students and volunteers.
• Identify student needs and communicate with Site Coordinator and others.
• Commit to a full-year program with punctual arrival and accurate time cards.
• Participate in staff development activities.
