Job summary

BUILDING CONTROLS & SOLUTIONS, located in Houston, TX, seeks an Inside Sales & Warehouse Operator to blend sales, service, and hands-on material handling. You will drive local sales, upsell, and manage orders while supporting efficient warehouse processes and returns.

The role emphasizes customer relationship building, accurate quoting, timely fulfillment, and collaboration with vendors and internal teams to meet sales targets and inventory accuracy.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of inside or counter sales experience, preferably in distribution or wholesale.
• Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Proficiency with CRM, order entry, and inventory management systems.
• Technical product knowledge required; HVAC, controls, or building automation preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to perform outbound sales calls, develop customer relationships, and identify sales opportunities.
• Ability to balance customer-facing sales responsibilities with hands-on warehouse and inventory operations.
• Experience with shipping, receiving, inventory control, or warehouse operations preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated, dependable, and willing to take initiative to support overall branch success.

Responsibilities

• Support initiatives to grow counter traffic and local service area sales.
• Drive inside sales through upselling, cross-selling, and proactive quote follow-ups.
• Partner with outside sales, vendors, and internal teams to ensure timely order fulfillment.
• Guide customers through technical product selection and the sales process.
• Educate customers on products, services, and technical capabilities.
• Manage and grow house account sales while meeting gross margin goals through effective pricing.
• Set and manage customer expectations for pricing, availability, lead times, and deliveries.
• Prepare accurate quotes, convert opportunities into orders, and process sales and purchase orders.
• Conduct outbound sales calls, prospecting, and regular customer follow-ups to identify new business opportunities.
• Handle customer inquiries, order tracking, and issue resolution.
• Assist with training and mentoring junior counter staff.
• Share best practices within the branch and across other BCS locations.
