You will assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes, ensure correct DRG outcomes, and collaborate with CDI to optimize capture while adhering to regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

• Interprets clinical documentation and its impact on coding and DRG assignment.
• Knows ICD-10-CM coding, low acuity procedures, and IPPS reimbursement.
• Understands CDI processes and documentation requirements.
• Identifies coding and documentation risks.
• Writes compliant queries for clarification when needed.
• Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Communicates effectively across clinical, CDI, and coding teams.

Responsibilities

• Assigns ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for inpatient surgical and procedure-based records.
• Ensures accurate DRG assignment reflecting procedures performed and patient acuity.
• Reviews documentation to validate procedural coding, sequencing, and clinical alignment.
• Maintains productivity and turnaround time standards to support DNFB reduction and revenue cycle performance.
• Identifies MCC/CC capture opportunities and collaborates with CDI for clarification.
• Incorporates audit findings and education into daily coding practice to ensure accuracy and consistency.
