Job summary

AdventHealth in Orlando, FL is seeking a professional medical coder with 4+ years of acute care hospital coding, including heavy PCS coding for complex surgeries. Requires CCS/RHIA/RHIT/CPC certifications and strong documentation skills.

You will assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes, ensure correct DRG outcomes, and collaborate with CDI to optimize capture while adhering to regulatory guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Assigns ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for inpatient surgical and procedure-based records.
• Ensures accurate DRG assignment reflecting procedures performed and patient acuity.
• Reviews documentation to validate procedural coding, sequencing, and clinical alignment.
• Maintains productivity and turnaround time standards to support DNFB reduction and revenue cycle performance.
• Identifies MCC/CC capture opportunities and collaborates with CDI for clarification.
• Incorporates audit findings and education into daily coding practice to ensure accuracy and consistency.

Job Description:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education:

Work Experience:

4+ years acute care hospital coding including heavy PCS coding of complex surgeries, or 4 years of hospital coding and completion of the AdventHealth inpatient surgical coding training [Required]

Additional Information:

4+ years of hospital coding AND AdventHealth inpatient surgical coding training program completion may be considered in lieu of work experience

Licenses and Certifications:

Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) [Required] OR Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) [Required] OR Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) [Required] OR Certified Professional Coder (CPC) [Required]
