Overview

Missouri Baptist Medical Center, an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, offers comprehensive medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer, women and infants, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound, and pain management services. The hospital has a 24-hour adult emergency department and collaborates with St. Louis Children's Hospital for pediatric emergencies.

Missouri Baptist is the first and only hospital in St. Louis County to be named a Magnet hospital by the ANCC, a distinction achieved by less than nine percent of hospitals nationwide. U.S. News & World Report ranked it #2 in the St. Louis metro area.

The Inpatient Surgical floor is a 68-bed unit serving primarily post-surgical patients, including a 10-bed Surgical Complex wing.

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within established nursing standards.

Responsibilities

• Promotes patient and family-centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and families on managing their illness or injury, including post-treatment home care and medication administration.
• Participates in activities promoting patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Engages in professional development.
• Develops, implements, and documents individualized care plans with clear goals, collaborating with the interprofessional team, patient, family, or caregiver, ensuring communication across the continuum of care.
• Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs, considering patient preferences, values, and cultural or spiritual needs.
• This is a safety-sensitive position; the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safety is essential.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing
• Experience: None required
• Licenses & Certifications: RN license
