Overview

Missouri Baptist Medical Center, an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, offers a full continuum of medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer, women and infants, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound, and pain management services. The hospital has a 24-hour adult emergency department and cares for pediatric patients at a separate emergency department in collaboration with St. Louis Children's Hospital.

Missouri Baptist is the first and only hospital in St. Louis County to be named a Magnet hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). This prestigious designation is the highest credential a healthcare organization can receive for nursing excellence and quality patient care. Inpatient Medical Oncology at MBMC comprises a 32-bed all-private unit, caring for a mix of 65% medical, 10% oncological, and 25% palliative care patients.

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within nursing care standards.

Responsibilities

1. Promotes patient and family-centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and families on managing illness or injury, including post-treatment home care and medication administration.
2. Participates in activities promoting patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Engages in professional development.
3. Develops, implements, and documents individual care plans with clear goals, collaborating with the interprofessional team, patient, family, or caregiver, and ensuring communication across the continuum of care.
4. Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Considers patient preferences, values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
5. This is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is essential.

Minimum Requirements

Education: Nursing Diploma/Associate's Degree in Nursing
