Overview

Missouri Baptist Medical Center, an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, offers comprehensive medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer treatment, women's health, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound, and pain management services. The hospital features a 24-hour adult emergency department and a separate pediatric emergency department in collaboration with St. Louis Children's Hospital.

The Inpatient Surgical unit at Missouri Baptist Medical Center is a 68-bed unit mainly serving post-surgical patients, including a 10-bed Surgical Complex wing.

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care activities, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the standards of nursing care.

Responsibilities

• Promotes patient and family-centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and families on managing illness or injury, post-treatment home care, and medication administration.
• Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Engages in professional development.
• Develops, implements, and documents individualized care plans with specific goals, collaborating with the interprofessional team, patients, families, or caregivers, ensuring communication across care continuum.
• Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs, considering patient preferences, values, and cultural needs.
• This is a safety-sensitive position; the ability to work alertly and safely is essential.

Minimum Requirements

Education

• Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing
