Overview

Missouri Baptist Medical Center, an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, offers comprehensive medical and surgical services, including heart, cancer, women and infants, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound, and pain management services. It has a 24-hour adult emergency department and a separate pediatric emergency in collaboration with St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

The inpatient Medical Oncology unit at MBMC is a 32-bed all-private unit caring for a mix of 65% medical, 10% oncological, and 25% palliative care patients.

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within nursing standards.

Responsibilities

• Promote patient and family-centered care in a healing environment. Educate patients and families on illness management, post-treatment care, and medication administration.
• Participate in activities that ensure patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Engage in professional development.
• Develop, implement, and document individualized care plans with defined goals in collaboration with the healthcare team, patient, and family, ensuring communication across care continuum.
• Use critical nursing skills to assess physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs, considering patient values, cultural, spiritual, and population-specific needs.
• This is a safety-sensitive position. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safety is essential.
