Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare is seeking a Lab Phlebotomist to support specimen collection, processing and data entry. You will ensure accurate labeling, proper accessioning, and timely communication with physicians and units.

This role requires phlebotomy experience or completion of a training program, high school diploma, and CPR certification. You will work with a multidisciplinary team, handle sensitive information, and maintain quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• One year phlebotomy experience or completion of accredited training program.
• ASCP phlebotomy certification preferred.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• Customer service experience helpful.
• Excellent interpersonal and telephone skills required.
• Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, visitors, physicians and Associates in a courteous, professional manner.
• Monitor and maintain phlebotomy supplies and patient prep materials.
• Train new associates and students from affiliated phlebotomy programs.
• Perform venipuncture and dermal puncture accurately following standards.
• Label specimens precisely and ensure proper accessioning.
• Enter test orders and patient data into the laboratory system.
• Provide oral or written reports to physicians and nursing units as requested.
• Adhere to policies and confidentiality requirements; support teamwork and cooperation.
