Job summary

Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA is hiring a full-time Inpatient Pharmacy Technician to assist the pharmacist in dispensing medications, preparing sterile IVs, and ensuring safe, timely patient care in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Shifts are 6am–11pm with a rotating schedule and every-other-weekend coverage. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is offered for qualified candidates, plus a comprehensive benefits package and tuition support.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy technician license required in state of practice.
• Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)
• CPhT License (Preferred)
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Previous Pharmacy Experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Fills and delivers medications under pharmacist supervision.
• Ensures adequate supplies are available for patient care.
• Triages and escalates questions outside technician scope.
• Uses pharmacy systems to process patient information.
• Maintains quality assurance per department and legal requirements.

Location: Norfolk, VA- Sentara Leigh Hospital

Status: Full Time (40 hrs/wk)

Shift: Rotating (8 hour shift)

Hours: 6am-11pm*

Weekends: Every Other Weekend

Holiday Rotation

Pharmacy Technicians perform care delivery and dispensing under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.

• Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner
• Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care
• Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
• Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
• Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $23.50 - $36.36 hourly.
