Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA, is hiring a Pharmacy Inventory Planner/Pharmacy Technician to join a high-volume hospital pharmacy. The role focuses on inventory control, patient safety, and timely medication delivery under licensed supervision.

Provides support for training and system-based inventory tasks in a busy tertiary care environment. The position requires a Virginia Pharmacy Tech License, a CPhT license, and 2 years of pharmacy experience with inventory familiarity.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Virginia Pharmacy Tech License required.
• CPhT License (NHA or PTCB) required.
• 2 Years of Pharmacy Experience required.
• Pharmacy Inventory Experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates ownership of all pharmacy buyer functions.
• Demonstrates advanced technical skills and ownership of the work area.
• Demonstrates the ability to competently work independently.
• Assumes local and/or system responsibility for assigned tasks.
• Participates in the training of new employees.
• Provides peer coaching and constructive feedback to other colleagues in a professional and productive manner.
• Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner.
• Ensures adequate supplies and medications are available for continuous patient care.
• Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed.
• Uses appropriate systems for processing patient and financial information.
• Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements.
• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately.

Compensation

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $28.33 - $41.08 hourly.
