Job summary

Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Full-time Inpatient Pharmacy Technician to join our pharmacy team. The role involves dispensing under supervision, ensuring supply continuity, and supporting patient care on a rotating 8-hour shift with sunrise to evening hours.

Qualifications include a Virginia Pharmacy Tech License and preferably a CPhT. A high school diploma is required, with prior hospital or sterile compounding experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Pharmacy Technicians perform care delivery and dispensing under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.
• Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner.
• Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care.
• Triages and escalates questions or issues outside the technician's scope of practice.
• Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information.
• Ensures quality assurance is maintained per department and legal requirements.
• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Job Responsibilities

• Pharmacy Technicians perform care delivery and dispensing under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.
• Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner
• Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care
• Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
• Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
• Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately
• In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Compensation

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $23.50 - $36.36 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.

About the Facility

Sentara Leigh Hospital , located in Norfolk, VA, is a 274-bed acute care facility that opened in 1903 and relocated to its present site in 1977.
