Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a clinically competent inpatient Staff Nurse for the CDH Medical Oncology unit (4A). This 26-bed adult oncology/step-down unit cares for patients 18+, providing inpatient chemotherapy, symptom management, and palliative/hospice care.

The role requires a BSN, Illinois RN license, and BLS, with ADN acceptable if a BSN is pursued within three years. Night shifts with rotating schedules and a collaborative team environment are offered.

Qualifications

• BSN required.
• Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license.
• American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others.
• Analytical abilities to assess and plan care.
• If ADN holder, commit to obtaining BSN within 3 years of employment.

Responsibilities

• Collects and analyzes patient data to plan individualized care.
• Directs nursing care and utilizes any assistants appropriately.
• Collaborates with patients, families, physicians, and staff.
• Participates in governance, committees, and unit projects.
• Documents patient responses and updates care plans accordingly.
• Utilizes evidence and research to guide practice decisions.
