Qualifications

• Creditable experience must involve KSAs for MSA responsibilities or equivalent administrative patient support role in non-VA inpatient or outpatient settings.
• Part-time experience is credited based on full-time equivalence (e.g., 20 hrs/week counts as half).
• Quality of experience must be at or near the level of MSA in a non-VA setting; higher levels require 25% time on duties.
• For grade level, demonstrates KSAs such as medical terminology, customer service, PC/PII handling, scheduling, independent work, professional communication.
• Ability to communicate with internal and external customers in person, electronically, or by phone.
• The work is primarily sedentary with possible light walking or standing.

Responsibilities

• Process doctors' orders and maintain medical records.
• Move patients through hospital stays including discharge or transfer to other facilities.
• Enter, modify, and retrieve sensitive medical and patient data in electronic health records and scheduling systems.
• Schedule medical appointments in a clinical setting and coordinate with staff.
