Job summary

Cedars Sinai is seeking an Inpatient Coder to join our health system coding team. You will assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes from medical records, determine DRG sequencing, and ensure compliant, standardized coding across facilities.

Responsibilities include abstracting data for reporting in EPIC and other systems, collaborating with the CDI team, and identifying documentation improvements with physicians to optimize accuracy and reimbursement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years of healthcare coding experience.
• Certifications required upon hire (e.g., CPC, CCS, CPCS or similar).

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes per guidelines.
• Abstract data for reporting into EPIC and related systems.
• Identify principal diagnosis, comorbidities, and DRG sequencing.
• Collaborate with CDI team to align coding approaches.
• Identify opportunities for documentation improvement with physicians.
