Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Coding Subject Matter Expert to oversee Optum360 coding operations across multiple facilities in the U.S., including remote teams. You will lead quality, audits, and standardization to exceed SLAs while maintaining strong client relations.

The role requires extensive ICD-10 coding knowledge, DRG experience, and collaboration with CDI/Quality leaders to drive accurate reimbursements and performance improvements. Remote work is supported nationwide.

Qualifications

• ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding experience and/or certification.
• 4+ years in a corporate coding leadership role for large multi-site health systems.
• 4+ years of DRG or inpatient coding experience.
• 4+ years partnering with CDI/Quality leadership to improve reimbursement and coding accuracy.
• 4+ years with computer-assisted coding technologies and EMR workflows.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.

Responsibilities

• Oversee coding operations leadership across Optum360 departments in the region.
• Lead standardization, workflow improvements, and metric development.
• Manage prebill reviews and prebill quality reviews with client teams.
• Drive quality assurance activities and corrective action plans.
• Maintain strong client relationships and liaison with coding operations teams.
• Foster staff development, mentoring, and performance recognition.
