Job summary

Houston Methodist seeks an Inpatient Coder to assign accurate ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS codes for inpatient encounters, following AHIMA guidelines and hospital policy. The role requires proficiency in coding rules and strong communication with physicians and care teams.

Qualified candidates will have a CAHIIM-accredited degree or equivalent experience, and either 1 year of inpatient coding experience or completion of Houston Methodist coding programs.

Qualifications

• Requires Associate’s degree or higher in a CAHIIM accredited program or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 1 year inpatient coding experience or completion of Houston Methodist coding programs.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS codes for inpatient encounters with accuracy.
• Query physicians to clarify diagnoses/procedures using established processes.
• Maintain compliance with AHIMA guidelines and regulatory rules.
• Collaborate with coding team and stakeholders to ensure data quality.
