Houston Methodist is seeking an Inpatient Coder to ensure accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS coding for inpatient encounters based on documentation within the electronic medical record.

The role requires one year of inpatient coding experience or completion of the Coding Apprentice/Transition Program, along with AHIMA credentials and strong knowledge of coding guidelines. This position may involve collaboration with physicians and the coding team.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in a CAHIIM-accredited program or additional two years of experience in lieu of degree.
• One year of inpatient coding experience or completion of Houston Methodist Coding Apprentice Program.
• RHIT/RHIA/CCS certification required.
• Knowledge of coding guidelines and DRG/APC systems.

Responsabilités

• Assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient encounters based on documentation in the EMR.
• Initiate physician queries to obtain or clarify diagnoses or procedures as needed.
• Maintain coding accuracy and productivity in line with department standards.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and participate in coding education activities.
